About Wufangzhai (Zhejiang Wufangzhai Industrial)

Wufangzhai is China's best-known zongzi brand. It was founded in 1921 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, when merchant Zhang Jinquan opened a small shop selling the glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. Its zongzi-making craftsmanship was listed in 2011 as national intangible cultural heritage, and the brand is among the first officially recognised China Time-Honored Brands.

Today Zhejiang Wufangzhai Industrial combines festival food manufacturing — zongzi as the core product, plus mooncakes, tangyuan, pastries, egg products and other rice dishes — with a chain of restaurants and Chinese fast-food outlets. It sells through its own stores, supermarkets and e-commerce nationwide, supported by production bases in Jiaxing and Chengdu and its own rice and leaf sourcing bases.

The company has been listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since 2022 and runs franchise programmes for its catering formats. Its official website presents a mission to preserve and innovate Chinese cuisine, with HACCP and ISO certifications backing export-grade production.
