About Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Co., Ltd.
Chongqing Rail Transit is the urban rail transit system of Chongqing, whose historic operator is the municipal group created in 1992 to build and run the network. The network combines conventional metro, straddle monorail and suburban railway — an unusual mix shaped by the terrain of this mountain city cut through by the Yangtze and Jialing rivers.
The system totals around five hundred kilometres in operation across more than a dozen lines, including Line 3, the world's longest and busiest straddle monorail, and stations that have become icons such as Liziba, where the train passes through a residential building. The network has set daily ridership records of several million passengers and keeps growing with new lines and extensions under construction.
The operator also contributes significant technical capacity: it helped create the first national standard system for straddle monorail and interoperability solutions for CBTC signalling across lines.
