About Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.

Shenzhen Metro Group (SZMC) is the Shenzhen municipal state-owned company responsible for building and operating the city's metro network, one of the largest and most modern in the world. Founded in 1998 and headquartered at Metro Tower in Futian district, it concentrates investment in, construction of and operation of the city's urban rail transit, together with the property development associated with its stations.

The network it operates totals 17 lines and more than 640 kilometres with over 430 stations — the fifth longest on the planet — opened in 2004 and expanded in successive phases that are still under way. The group operates nearly all lines through its operations subsidiary (Lines 4 and 13 are run by Hong Kong's MTR) and also takes on intercity railway projects in the Shenzhen area and transit consultancy work in other cities.

As a municipal infrastructure holding, SZMC combines metro operation with the construction of new lines, management of station commercial resources and the development of complexes above and beside depots and stations, following the rail-plus-city integration model. Its official Chinese-language website (szmc.net) publishes network information, line details and the group's activities.
