About Ningbo Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd.
Ningbo Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. is the municipal company that builds and operates the Ningbo Metro in Zhejiang Province, one of the fastest-growing urban rail systems on China's east coast. Its first line entered service on 30 May 2014 and the network has expanded ever since across the districts of Haishu, Jiangbei, Zhenhai, Beilun and Yinzhou, structuring daily travel in the port city.
The network combines urban metro lines with suburban services: Line 2 links the city with Lishe International Airport, and Line 12, opened in 2026 as China's first cross-sea intercity railway over the Xiangshan Bay bridge, took the network to around 360 kilometres. The group plans, finances, builds and operates the lines and develops the assets associated with stations and rail corridors.
For public authorities, engineering firms and rail industry suppliers, Ningbo Rail Transit Group is the reference public operator of a young but already medium-to-large network, with locally produced rolling stock, automated operation on its newest lines and a continuing programme of new lines that strengthens the Hangzhou Bay metropolitan area alongside Hangzhou and Shaoxing.
