About Suparna Airlines

Suparna Airlines, whose Chinese name is Jinpeng Airlines, is a Shanghai-based airline within the HNA group sphere. It was created in 2002 as Yangtze River Express, China's second dedicated cargo airline, and in 2015 received approval to carry passengers, launching those services the same year before adopting its current name in 2017, inspired by the mythological bird Suparna.

In the passenger business, under IATA code Y8, the company flies domestic routes from its Shanghai and Shenzhen bases with a fleet of Boeing 737-800s, serving leisure and business destinations across China. Its official portal yzr.com.cn provides ticket booking and management, baggage information and the company's general conditions of carriage.

Suparna simultaneously keeps a substantial freighter operation inherited from its origins: it flies Boeing 747-400F freighters and has added Boeing 777-F aircraft for intercontinental cargo routes, thus combining passenger transport and air freight within a single carrier. This dual profile sets it apart among China's mid-sized airlines linked to large aviation groups.
