About China Express Airlines

China Express Airlines, known in Chinese as Huaxia Airlines, is a regional carrier headquartered at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and flying under IATA code G5. Founded in 2006, it presents itself as China's first private regional airline and is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with its Chinese-language official website as its sales and passenger service channel.

Its model focuses on connecting small and mid-sized cities that larger airlines underserve: according to its recent corporate disclosures, the fleet stood at around 77 aircraft, operating some 194 routes from bases in Chongqing, Guiyang, Dalian, Hohhot, Xi'an, Korla and Quzhou. It flies Airbus A320 and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft and has also brought the COMAC ARJ21 into its regional network.

Within China's domestic market, China Express acts as a capillary airline: it feeds the major hubs from secondary airports and sustains air connectivity for dozens of provincial cities. Its specialisation in low-density point-to-point routes sets it apart from the country's trunk carriers.
