About Pupu Mall (Pupu Supermarket)
Pupu is the Chinese instant grocery platform of Fuzhou Pupu Mall E-commerce Co., Ltd., launched in September 2016 in Fuzhou, Fujian province, by its founder Chen Muwang. Against the small front-warehouse model of its competitors, Pupu bet on warehouses of 800 to 1,500 square metres that allow it to offer between 6,000 and 8,000 product lines with delivery in about 30 minutes.
Its range covers fruit and vegetables, fresh aquatic products, meat, poultry, eggs and milk, packaged food, snacks and daily necessities, with supply chain and spoilage control as an operational obsession: financial press attributes to it a fresh produce spoilage rate of around 1.5%, far below the sector average. In 2025 it diversified the model with Pupu Kitchen, its prepared food delivery line.
The company grew slowly and profitably: it reached its first full-year profit in 2023 and sales of around 30 billion yuan in 2024, with penetration above 70% in Fuzhou and Xiamen and presence in cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Wuhan. It is regarded as one of China's last large independent instant retail platforms.
