About New World Department Store China (NWDS)

New World Department Store China Limited (NWDS) is the mainland China retail flagship of the Hong Kong group New World Development, established in Hong Kong in June 1993 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2007 under stock code 825. Its first mainland store opened in Wuhan in 1994, and its expansion strategy is summed up in its two historic mottos: multiple presences within a single city and radiation cities.

The group operates department stores and shopping malls under two banners: «New World» nationwide and «Ba Li Chun Tian» (Paris Spring) for its seven Shanghai stores, the city where it set up its mainland office in 2001. Its stores combine the one-stop «Living Gallery» department store model with the themed «Fashion Gallery» format, with which it broke the traditional class-based classification of Chinese retail.

As at 31 December 2024, its reports stated 22 department stores and shopping malls in 12 key mainland China cities, with about 920,000 square metres of gross floor area, and New World Development held around 75% of the capital. The listed company's published head office address is in Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
