About Nanjing Metro Group Co., Ltd.
Nanjing Metro Group Co., Ltd. is the municipal state-owned company that plans, builds and operates the metro of Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu. Established on 18 June 2012 from Nanjing Underground Railway Co., Ltd., it brings together network planning, engineering and construction, operations management, fund raising and station-related property development, from its headquarters in the Metro Building at No. 228 Zhongshan Road.
The group has more than 19,000 employees and over RMB 350 billion in assets, with twelve functional departments, one direct unit and a set of wholly owned and participating subsidiaries. Its track record starts with construction of Line 1 in 2000 and has taken the network from zero to more than 500 kilometres: according to the institutional profile of the municipal state assets regulator, it operates 13 lines and 255 stations over 508 kilometres, carrying about 1.1 billion passengers in 2024, and was the first system in China to cover every administrative district of its city.
