About Qingdao Metro Group Co., Ltd.
Qingdao Metro Group Co., Ltd. is the state-owned company of the city of Qingdao, Shandong province, responsible for building and operating its metro. The network's first line, Line 3, entered service in December 2015, and within a decade the system has grown from a single line into a network structuring the three shores of Jiaozhou Bay. The group's headquarters are in the Metro Building at No. 6 Changning Road, Shibei district.
According to figures published by the official website and by the municipal government on the tenth anniversary of operations, the network totals 8 lines in service, 172 stations and 352 operating kilometres, with cumulative ridership close to 2.6 billion journeys and a daily average around 1.5 million. Lines 1 to 4 and 6 serve the urban core, while Line 8 connects to Jiaodong International Airport and the Langu and West Coast express lines link the new districts.
The group combines running the service — line information, fares, timetables and passenger support on its official portal — with construction of new network phases and development of metro-related resources. Its network already reaches the city's main transport hubs, commercial areas, hospitals and tourist sights, under a stated goal of 'half an hour to downtown, one hour across the whole city'.
