About Babi Food
Babi Food, Zhongyin Babi Food Co., Ltd., is the Shanghai company behind Babi Mantou, the breakfast chain specialising in steamed buns and Chinese pastries. The business began in 2001 with a small shop in Huangpu, was renamed Babi Mantou in 2003 and adopted the franchise model in 2005; the company has been listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange since 2020 (605338) and is known as China's first listed baozi stock.
Its model combines industrialised production, cold-chain distribution and a network of neighbourhood stores run mostly by franchisees, who receive standardised doughs, fillings and semi-prepared products every day. The range covers around one hundred items among baozi, mantou, coarse-grain pastries, fillings, congee and drinks, designed for breakfast and everyday fast food.
The company supports the network with central factories in Shanghai and plants in Guangzhou and Tianjin supplying stores within a radius of several hundred kilometres, and it is growing a business supplying canteens and organised catering clients. With several thousand stores across the country, Babi presents itself as one of China's largest breakfast and Chinese-style fast food chains.
