About Sichuan Airlines
Sichuan Airlines is the largest airline in western China, headquartered at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Sichuan. Its predecessor was founded on 19 September 1986 and began operations on 14 July 1988, and the present company was restructured in 2002. Its logo depicts a haiyan, or sea swallow, soaring as a symbol of the company's entrepreneurial spirit.
The airline operates scheduled domestic and international flights from its hubs in Chengdu — both Shuangliu and the newer Tianfu airport — Chongqing and Kunming, with a network of branches and bases across China including Beijing, Zhejiang, Heilongjiang, Shanxi, Hainan, Xinjiang and Xichang, plus bases in Shenzhen, Nanning and Mianyang. It states that it provides air services to more than 30 million passengers a year.
Its fleet is made up entirely of Airbus aircraft, including wide-body types for international routes to Asia, Oceania, North America and other destinations. Through its international portal, global.sichuanair.com, it offers flight booking, passenger services and network information to travellers outside China.
