About Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (code SZX) is the main airport infrastructure of Shenzhen and one of the air gateways of the Pearl River Delta. Opened in 1991 in Bao'an district, about 32 kilometres from the city centre, it is operated by Shenzhen Airport Company and handles virtually all commercial traffic of one of China's most important technology cities, with a third runway recently added to its operation.

Its most recognisable element is Terminal 3, an organically shaped building designed by architect Massimiliano Fuksas that organises domestic and international departures and arrivals. The official website, which has an English version, publishes real-time flight information, passenger guides, baggage rules, dining and shopping options, and the assistance services available inside the terminal.

The airport also works as an intermodal hub: its website details the city bus terminals the company maintains in Shenzhen districts and in neighbouring cities such as Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhongshan and Zhuhai, metro and ferry connections, and car parks. Its round-the-clock hotline and official mailbox centralise enquiries and complaints from travellers using the infrastructure.
