About China Nepstar Chain Drugstore
China Nepstar Chain Drugstore is the pharmacy chain created in Shenzhen in June 1995 by the Neptunus Group, pioneer of the chain drugstore concept in China: its first store opened in 1996 in Shenzhen's Guiyuan area and the uniform self-operated store model later spread across the country. Its official website is nepstar.cn, the domain stated by the company itself in its SEC filings.
The chain sells prescription and over-the-counter drugs, nutritional supplements, herbal products, personal care and convenience items, with more than a thousand own-label products according to its IPO prospectus. In November 2007 Nepstar became the first Chinese pharmacy chain listed in the United States, under the symbol NPD on the New York Stock Exchange, and in 2016 it was taken private and acquired by China Neptunus Drugstore Holding.
In April 2016 the company stated 1,965 directly operated stores, one headquarters distribution centre and 15 regional distribution centres, figures that made it China's largest drugstore chain by number of directly operated stores. Its principal executive offices are in Shenzhen's Nanshan District, as recorded in its Form 20-F annual report.
