About Hengdian World Studios

Hengdian World Studios is the world's largest film and television shooting base. Created in 1996 by Hengdian Group in the town of Hengdian, Dongyang (Zhejiang), it began with the Guangzhou Street set built for the film 'The Opium War' and is today known as China's Hollywood and as a national 5A tourist attraction.

The complex brings together more than thirty outdoor shooting bases recreating five thousand years of Chinese history — the Qin Palace, the Ming and Qing Palatial Garden, the 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' scene, Republican-era Guangzhou and Hong Kong streets — and over one hundred indoor studios. A very large share of China's period films and television dramas is shot on its sets every year.

For production crews it offers a complete ecosystem: crew hotels, extras and actors, technicians, and rental of props, costumes, vehicles and horses, plus post-production and support services. For visitors it adds theme parks, shows and immersive experiences that make the backlot a tourist destination in its own right.
