About Frank Chou Design Studio
Frank Chou Design Studio is a Beijing-based design practice founded by Frank Chou, who treats furniture as a strategic asset capable of raising Chinese regional manufacturing to premium global original-product standards. The studio combines product design, creative direction and consultancy for brands in Europe and Asia.
Its best-known piece, the Signature armchair and sofa inspired by the terraced fields of Yunnan, was selected for Louis Vuitton's Objets Nomades collection, making Chou the first mainland Chinese designer to take part in that annual presentation. Under the Frank Chou Collection brand he also develops beds, tables and ranges in recycled materials, such as the FuFu collection using eco fur made from plastic bottles.
The studio has an ongoing collaboration with Chinese manufacturers such as HC28, for whom it has signed living and bedroom ranges, and its founder curates the Talents programme at Design Shanghai and the Create Cures public-welfare project, which promotes public health through design.
