About Mario Tsai Studio
Mario Tsai Studio is a research-oriented design practice founded in Hangzhou in the summer of 2014 by designer Mario Tsai. The studio works with an experimental, flexible mindset focused on the properties of materials, the systematic structure of each project and the sustainability of its life cycle, in a soft minimalist aesthetic.
Alongside design consulting for products and art installations, the studio runs its own brand MARIO TSAI, with furniture collections such as Gongzheng — which explores the limits of aluminium profile — and Rong, plus the Mazha modular lighting system inspired by the traditional Chinese folding stool. It also operates mx object, its line of small furniture and everyday objects.
From its office and showroom in Hangzhou's Dongxin Hechuangyuan creative park, the studio works with brands and distributors worldwide and has exhibited at international fairs and shows, placing contemporary Chinese structural design on the global circuit.
