About China First Pencil Co., Ltd.
China First Pencil is China's historic pencil manufacturer, headquartered in Shanghai with roots in the China Standard Pencil Factory founded in 1935, considered the birthplace of the Chinese pencil industry. Today it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed jewellery group Lao Feng Xiang and runs its activity, brands and factories as a distinct stationery business.
Its product is the pencil in all its forms: wooden graphite pencils, colour pencils, technical drawing pencils — its Chunghwa drawing series competed with imported brands from the 1950s onwards — special and cosmetic pencils and associated stationery, with more than 300 varieties. Its Chunghwa and Great Wall brands are nationally protected trademarks, and Chunghwa holds the Ministry of Commerce's 'China time-honored brand' distinction.
The company produces at its Shanghai and Jiangsu bases and exports to more than fifty countries and regions. Its milestones include the Chunghwa space pencil developed in 2008 for the Shenzhou-7 mission, China's first spacewalk. Its English-language website presents the company, its history and its pencil catalogue.
