About Shanghai Hero Pen Company
The Shanghai Hero Pen Company, today part of the Shanghai Hero Group, is China's historic fountain pen manufacturer, founded in 1931 in Shanghai as the Wolff Pen Manufacturing Company and renamed Hero in 1966. Its Hero pen became China's emblematic writing instrument, traditionally used for signing official documents and at institutional ceremonies.
The house's most famous model is the Hero 100, with a 14-karat gold nib and aerometric filling system, alongside series such as the Hero 616 and the group's other brands — Wing Sung, Lucky, Huafu, Xinhua and Gentleman — which together account for more than one hundred registered trademarks and around ten stationery companies. Current production combines classic fountain pen lines with ballpoint pens and inks under the Hero and Doctr brands.
The group presents its history, brands and products on its official website, published in Chinese. Its longevity — more than ninety years — and its role in Shanghai's industrial history keep it as China's reference name in fountain pens against the generalist stationery brands.
