About XuetangX
XuetangX is the massive open online course (MOOC) platform launched by Tsinghua University in October 2013, the first of its kind in China. It serves as the research and application platform of the Ministry of Education's Research Center for Online Education and as the online education platform of UNESCO's International Centre for Engineering Education. It is operated by MOOC-CN Information Technology, based in Beijing.
Its catalogue gathers thousands of quality courses from universities such as Tsinghua, Peking University, Fudan and the University of Science and Technology of China, alongside international institutions including MIT, Stanford and Berkeley, spread across thirteen broad disciplines. It offers free courses, verified certificates, micro-credentials and online degree programmes for students and professionals.
The platform's international version, launched in 2020, adds interfaces in English and other languages, and its accumulated user base exceeds one hundred million registered learners worldwide. XuetangX also provides digital campus and blended-learning solutions for universities, extending the traditional classroom online.
