About Shandong Haihua Group
Shandong Haihua Group is a large state-owned chemical group in Weifang, Shandong Province, created in 1995 through the merger of the Weifang soda ash plant and the Yangkou salt field. It is a national key production and export base for marine chemicals and a front-runner in China's salt chemical industry, covering about 128 square kilometres with around twenty branches and subsidiaries, including the listed Shandong Haihua Co., Ltd. (000822).
Its flagship products revolve around salt and the sea: soda ash — of which it is one of the world's large producers — raw salt, calcium chloride, bromine, magnesium chloride, sodium nitrate and nitrite and sodium bicarbonate, several of them with capacities ranked among China's top. The group's sectors cover salt chemicals, energy, petrochemicals and new materials.
From the Binhai Economic Development Zone in Weifang, Haihua exports its basic chemicals to markets such as Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Middle East, while supplying China's glass, detergent, metallurgy and fine chemical industries. Its model rests on the comprehensive use of marine and salt resources and on an ongoing shift toward higher-value products and greener processes.
