About Roewe
Roewe is SAIC Motor's own passenger car brand, launched in 2006 in Shanghai on the basis of technology acquired from the former British MG Rover group, after SAIC was unable to secure the rights to the Rover name. Since then it has become one of the volume Chinese brands of the country's largest carmaker, with a contemporary oriental design image and a strong commitment to connectivity.
Its current range combines SUVs such as the RX5, saloons such as the i5 and the D family of new energy models —with the D7 in electric and DMH plug-in hybrid versions and new additions such as the M7 DMH—, plus MPVs such as the iMAX8. Roewe pioneered the so-called internet car with the RX5, and in 2024 it absorbed the Rising premium electric line into its new energy offer.
Roewe sells its vehicles on the Chinese market through a wide dealer network managed from its official Chinese-language website, while many of its models are sold abroad under the group's MG brand. It targets families and middle-class buyers looking for connected saloons and SUVs, with combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains, within the SAIC ecosystem.
