About Origin Agritech Limited
Origin Agritech Limited, founded in 1997 and headquartered at its R&D Center in Songzhuang, Tongzhou District, Beijing, is a NASDAQ-listed Chinese agricultural technology company working in crop seed biotechnology. Its phytase corn was the first transgenic corn to receive a Bio-Safety Certificate from China's Ministry of Agriculture, a milestone that made it a pioneer of genetic improvement applied to the country's food security.
The company develops, produces and distributes hybrid corn seed as its core business, alongside soybean, canola and rice varieties, drawing on a germplasm collection of more than 200,000 accessions. In 2025 it launched four new corn varieties — Jingke 317, Jinqiao 8, Xundan 203 and Aoyu 728 — and later secured exclusive nationwide commercialisation rights to Zhongdan 6202, a hybrid bred for machine harvesting, while keeping herbicide-tolerance and insect-resistance traits in its development pipeline.
Origin operates breeding and research stations in Beijing and Sanya plus new stations in Zhengzhou and Guizhou, seed production and processing centres in several regions, and a sales network covering the major corn belts of the Northeast and Huanghuaihai. With strengthened seed production and operation licences obtained in 2025 and a structure consolidated around Beijing Origin, the company drives adoption of its varieties among distributors and large growers through demonstration plots and nationwide promotion programmes.
