About Loongson Technology

Loongson Technology Corporation Limited is the Chinese company behind the Loongson processors — originally known as Godson, or the 'dragon chip' — first developed at the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Established as a company in 2008 and listed on Shanghai's STAR Market (688047), it is headquartered in Beijing and engages in the research, development, sale and service of processors and supporting chips based on its own technology.

Its centrepiece is LoongArch, an instruction set architecture developed entirely in-house, on which it builds CPU families for desktops and servers — such as the 3A5000 and 3A6000 series and the 3C5000 and 3D5000 server processors — together with chipsets, bridge chips and basic hardware and software solutions. Its official website, published in Chinese, also documents a broad partner adaptation programme covering operating systems, databases, security and industry applications, with thousands of products certified compatible with its platforms.

Loongson processors are used in network security, office and e-government informatisation, industrial control and the Internet of Things, serving sectors such as government, energy, transportation, finance, telecommunications and education. The company treats independent innovation as its strategic core: building an open, autonomous Chinese information technology ecosystem able to deliver secure, high-performance processors without depending on foreign architectures.
