About Gitee
Gitee is the code hosting and DevOps collaboration platform operated by OSChina, a company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. Launched in 2013, it has become China's reference software forge, with millions of developers and tens of millions of repositories, and in 2020 it was selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as the basis of the national independent open-source code hosting platform.
The service provides Git and SVN repository hosting, merge requests and code review, issue and project management, code snippets (Gists), webhooks and a public REST API, plus integrations with tools such as Jenkins, Jira and TAPD. On that foundation, its enterprise editions add complete DevOps workflows, granular permissions and deployments designed for organisations that need to keep their code within China.
Gitee acts as the local alternative to the major international forges for China's open-source community and for companies developing software in the country. Its model combines a free tier for individual developers with paid enterprise editions, and its operator, OSChina, is also China's best-known open-source developer community.
