About Gansu Dunhuang Seed Group

Gansu Dunhuang Seed Group Co., Ltd. is a Chinese seed company headquartered in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (600354), where it was the first seed company from its province to go public. Founded in 1998 and ranked among China's top fifty seed enterprises, the company organises its business around the breeding, production, processing, testing, packaging and sale of crop seeds for agriculture in northern China.

Its core offer is corn seed, complemented by cotton, wheat, watermelon and melon, vegetable, flower and forage seeds, together with cotton processing lines — lint, cottonseed and linters — and processed agricultural products such as tomato powder. The group operates through a network of seed and cotton subsidiaries spread across Gansu, Henan, Hebei and Hubei, and runs its own varietal research and development centre selecting hybrids adapted to the arid and irrigated conditions of north-western China.

Dunhuang Seed sells its seed to farmers and agricultural distributors across a wide area of northern China, relying on contracted seed production bases with local growers and on quality controls covering the purity, germination and treatment of every lot. The company thus combines primary agricultural production — seed and cotton — with the processing of farm products, within the agricultural industrialisation strategy of the Hexi region.
