About China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation
China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC), founded in 1950, was New China's first large-scale state-owned foreign trade company specialised in the import and export of mechanical and electrical products. Headquartered in Beijing, on Fuchengmenwai Avenue, it became a founding member and wholly-owned enterprise of Genertec in 1998, the central state-owned technology group.
Its current activity combines three lines: international trade in machinery and equipment for energy, transport, construction and agriculture; international engineering contracting and infrastructure project management, with reference works such as the Dhaka-Ashulia elevated expressway in Bangladesh; and supply chain services for the automotive industry, from component sourcing to vehicle logistics.
With more than seven decades of electromechanical foreign trade, CMC embodies the classic Chinese state trading house evolved into a contractor and supply services provider. It operates with its own brand, website (cmc.com.cn, with an English version) and commercial structure inside the Genertec group, distinct from its sister company CMEC, which focuses on plant engineering.
